Why can't I find any prices listed on your web site?
A: There are different shows and each requires a special set up. The fee rates are different for a birthday party of 12 children and a banquet of 150 adults. Please submit an inquiry form and you'll receive a prompt reply.
Can you design a special show for us?
A: Absolutely. Faria has over 30 years of performing for thousands of people and hundreds of companies. Just be sure to give yourself enought time to book Faria.
Can you perform a ventriloquist puppet show instead of doing magic?
A: We sure can. The ventriloquist performance lasts for about 35-45 minutes and features several of Faria's puppet pals- Erwin Earwood, Winchester the Buzzard, Carl the Gorilla, the Abominable Snowthing and many more.
We're going to be doing a Vacation Bible School. Can you present a 10 minute lesson each day from our teacher's manual?
A: Most definitely. Faria has designed extraordinary magic and illusions for churches hosting their VBS. All Faria asks is for you to lend him a copy of the middle school age teacher's manual and any special wants or concerns. We encourage you to have Faria perform for the closing ceremony of the VBS which can feature several of the magical lessons that were created.
Do you do charity shows? If so, do you have a fee?
A: Of course. Faria performs several charitable events each year. There are two types of charitable events:
- No cost donation. Faria selects a few charities per year and offers his services free of charge.
- Fund Raisers: Several organizations host fund raisers for their particular non-profit organization. Faria takes a reduced fee based on the estimated audience size then a small percentage of the ticket sales. Faria will provide you with ready-to-print ticket masters, show poster masters, etc. You can print them up yourself or Faria will provide them to you for a fee. For the fund raiser you appoint a committee to oversee the sales and collection of money for the show. Faria does not do any accounting so we ask that you provide a total gross sales sheet for his financial records since his reduced show fee is based partially on the ticket sales. Please note: Since Faria donates his time to several organizations, please do not ask him to perform "for the publicity" or "exposure." Unless the organization is willing to put a substantial amount of its budget into publicizing the show then Faria recommends a fund raiser show.
A: From a Christian perspective the bible does speak on the subject of the occult. But careful study of the passages on the subject reveal that the word "magician" is better translated "astrologer" or "occultist." Faria uses a combination of sleight of hand, psychological, technology and acting to create the illusion of magic. Further, the bible focuses more on the result of these occultic people; i.e., they are trying to seduce people to leave the worship of God. Faria does not do this. Faria does use the word "illusion" when appropriate. If a church hosts Faria's magic show then of course we can eliminate the word "magic" so as to not offend.
Do you have a video that we can see of you doing magic?
A: Yes... but we're working on a new one and you can request via email that you be notified when it is available.
Is there a contract that we have to sign?
A: Yes. After you agree to book Faria you will be sent a performance agreement outlining the show details. You can receive it via email or by "snail mail." Just sign both copies and return one, keeping the other for your records.
Can our church just agree to do a "love offering" or "free will offering" to pay you?
A: We would have to talk. Magiclaffs is not a non-profit organization and doesn't hold a 501c3 certificate. There are IRS regulations that each church must follow. We prefer to negotiate a performance fee.
For our Corporate Retreat can you make our CEO appear magically?
A: Absolutely!! Just be sure to contact us ahead of time and let us know that you want this special illusion. There is an extra charge for this.
